Lunar Landing

What would it be like to walk on the moon?  What would we find if we went there?

Today we launched from the Level Centre in a rocket and headed for the moon. Exiting the rocket through the air lock we headed for the nearest crater where we explored the surface, collected rock samples and experienced low gravity activity.

Lunar Landscapes

A trip into space took us through the satellite belt and on into outer space before landing on the moon.

After a fantastic Purple Peach Club Night where our chill out room was showing a sound and space installation by artist Andy Wlliams, today we took a rocket into space to land in the installation. We took a walk in space, explored the lunar landscape, collected rock samples before finally landng back on earth.

Changing Landscapes

Still exploring contours and landscapes, today we have been shaping using gravity and force.

From a large stretched net we created valleys,  mountains and underground caves and spaces.

Landscapes

Continuing with the theme of contours we have been shaping surfaces from flat to valley and mountain.

We used different parts of our bodies to raise or lower areas of stretched net; pulling, pushing, reaching, leaning. We tied strips of fabric onto the netting so that we we could shape the net in different ways and from a distance. We then added colour and texture with fabric strips and projections.

Contour and Colour

Shaping new landscapes using sand and projection.

By pouring, shaping and moulding the sand we created new mountains and valleys, new landscapes and scenes. We used the photos from previous weeks work to project  onto the  landscapes. We also made slides and projected these too.

Contours

Projection and Sand Shapes.

We created sand sculptures and shapes and projected images onto our contours. The images were photos taken over the past few weeks of the cave paintings made during sessions.

Texture and Shape

Today we have explored textured painting and sand raking to form swirls and lines. Painting on the walls of the cave, painting at a different angle felt different to painting on the horizontal. Different rakes made various shapes and lines.
