Ritual 7

Pendulums, swinging swirling sand and more.

Today Visual Arts and Sensory Arts worked together. We used pendulums filled with coloured sand to spread the colours over a large sheet of paper. We then drew additional shapes using brushes and sponges on sticks so we didn't tread too much on the art work. Smaller pictures were made using glue and dried powder paint, we can keep these.

We were also really lucky that Will Hurt was working  on his new project at Level. We were able to work with him to see what is is all about and to help him shape the work.
Wills work work can been seen at Purple Peach at Level Centre on tuesday  November 10th, 6.30-10 pm.

Rituals 6

Shadow and Sand

We opened our session today with a bell ritual performed in shadow. Using a screen and back lighting we took turns to perform our different rituals using arm movements  and bell ringing. We followed this with vogue style movements both in front of and behind the screen, these can look  like hieroglyphic shapes.  We moved to rhythms created on the key board and a selection of drums. Today we were joined by the visual arts group creating sand shapes on black paper.

Ritual 5

Sand and  Shadows

Pouring, spilling, sifting; we spread  and scattered sand in patterns and shapes. Making ever changing pictures. Then drawing around the shadows made by our bodies on white paper we used these drawn images to form a background, infilling spaces with coloured sand. All sessions in our Ritual series start with a ritual blue ringing. Scroll to the end to find Roger  and his ritual.
